IPL Photofacial in Markham
Clearer, more even-looking skin — without surgery or long downtime.
IPL (intense pulsed light) photofacial is a non-invasive light treatment that targets the colour irregularities sitting in your skin: sun spots, age spots, redness, and uneven tone. Light energy is absorbed by the pigment and tiny surface vessels; your body then clears the treated cells away naturally, while gentle heating encourages collagen renewal underneath.
The result is skin that looks brighter, calmer, and more even — with most people back to their day right after the appointment.
What IPL photofacial treats
Sun spots, age spots and freckles
Redness and rosy flush
Uneven skin tone and dullness
Enlarged-looking pores and rough texture
Early fine lines from photoaging
Our device: Lumenis Stellar M22
We perform IPL on the Lumenis Stellar M22 — a medical-grade multi-application platform used in clinics worldwide. Its IPL handpiece delivers filtered light in controlled pulses, and every treatment starts with a skin assessment so the settings are matched to your skin type and concern.
Not everyone is a candidate (very dark or freshly tanned skin, certain medications, active skin infections) — that's exactly what the consultation is for.
What to expect
Consultation first — we look at your skin, talk through your goals, and confirm IPL is the right choice.
The appointment — protective eyewear on, a cool gel on the skin, then quick pulses of light across the treatment area. Most people describe it as a light rubber-band snap; a full face takes about 45 minutes.
After — mild redness for a few hours is normal. Dark spots may look darker for a few days before they flake away — that's the pigment clearing. In some cases, small blisters or light peeling can occur — this is temporary and typically heals without scarring.
Results build over sessions — tone looks more even after the first visit, with the clearest change after a full course.
How many sessions do I need?
For lasting, visible improvement, 3–5 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart is the usual course.
Seasonal packages may be available — ask us at your consultation or watch for our current promotions.
Single sessions are available — ask us at your consultation.
Individual results may vary. A professional consultation is required to determine whether IPL photofacial is suitable for you.
Frequently asked questions
-
Most people find it very tolerable — a brief warm snap with each pulse. No anaesthetic is usually needed.
-
Minimal. You can return to normal activities the same day; we just ask you to protect the treated skin from sun.
-
Many clients notice brighter, more even skin within 1–2 weeks of the first session; spots continue to fade with each visit. Individual results may vary.
-
Melasma needs careful, individual assessment — IPL can make some types worse, so it's usually not our first choice for it. Book a consultation and we'll recommend what's actually suitable for your skin, which may include alternatives such as microneedling or non-ablative fractional laser.

IPL works best on light to medium skin tones. Darker skin carries a higher risk of pigment change, so the consultation matters even more.
